Origins

While reading a book on Japanese designs, Simon noticed a striking box with shelves and a detachable front cover.

Inspired, he sketched a design that was smaller in footprint and employed drawers rather than shelves for added practicality.

The result is a beautifully finished keepsake box that is equally at home as a feature piece of art or on a bedside table as a practical storage piece.

Features of Note

HIDE AND KEEP

The parquetry on the front cover performs dual duties: looking good and keeping dust and prying fingers away from the secrets inside. Combined with the soft black suede lined and dovetailed drawers, the Japanese Hidden Keepsake Box is perfect for notes, jewellery and other items of emotional value.

A matter of chance

The stunning Kwila drawer fronts nearly never happened: Simon noticed the highly figured timber on a roof beam he was going to put into a house in Brisbane and decided it would be a waste to have it hidden up in the rafters. The dovetailed Antarctic Beech drawers came from the floor of one of the first houses built in Mooloolabah.

a fitting addition to most rooms

This jewellery box stands out as a beacon of modern Japanese-inspired functional artwork. From the joinery to finishes, this jewellery box is a standout in any room of the house where a modern, bright and inviting piece of furniture is desired.
